Nicolette Ngov – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – On Oct. 24, eight students from the LRHS Technology Student Association (TSA) will attend an annual leadership conference in Orlando.
The students attending the conference are senior Kenny Marschne, juniors Katie Hartley, Olivia Miller, and Jake Hanson, sophomores Joseph Giannone and Ethan Spasciani, and freshmen Paige Willemsen and Billie Humphreys.
At the conference they will be learning about TSA competitive events, developing personal leadership skills, networking with TSA members across Florida, and meeting the Florida TSA state officers.
TSA chapter vice president Miller said, “I’m really excited to go, it’s going to be a fun four days. I can’t wait to bond with all the other officers.”
This year’s TSA theme is “TSA: The Undead,” which encourages its members to lead and compete in any situation.
According to the TSA website, “This year’s Leadership Conference has a new twist to Leadership introducing the Crisis Team. Instead of families, these teams set in a Post-Apocalyptic World will be faced with the challenges the survivors encounter such as extreme exposure, water, defense, life essentials and communication. Other topics include Officer Training, Pilot events for drones and pneumatics.”
The conference will feature breakout sessions that will teach students traditional leadership qualities that advisers count on for team building and chapter growth.
TSA chapter secretary Hanson said, “This year’s theme is really cool and interesting. I like that the theme wants to inspire us to be a leader in any situation.”
