Gavin Laielli – Mustangs Ahead

Sports(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – As the school year progresses, Mustang sports teams continue to thrive.  The Mustangs boys golf team Monday started competing in the Region 5 championships.

Varsity Mustang coach John Victor said the team is building on such individual success.

“Overall, we have been growing as a team, and we hope to advance to states if possible,” he said.

On Monday, the boys golf team advanced to regionals, finishing third in District 13, one of the top districts in the state. The team was led by junior Dylan Gabbart who took home Individual District Championship Honors with a score of 3 under 69.

Victor said, “I believe we have a good group of freshman and sophomores that show potential, as our future looks bright.”

Earlier this month, the boys golf team traveled to Palm Beach Gardens to compete in a top high school invitational in the nation.

Senior Drew Angelo defeated 130 players to win on one of the toughest courses in the PGA Tour.
