(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Wednesday night, the LRHS volleyball team won their district semi-final game at the Ranch.

The ladies played against Manatee High School, winning 3-0.

Coach Perri Hankins said, “In front of a big crowd, the Mustang volleyball team was ecstatic to beat Manatee High School in 3 straight sets. This is our first District Semi-final win since 2014 and we will play at Venice for the championship this Thursday.”

Due to the ladies win last night, they qualified for the district championship game, along with regionals.  The district championship game will be played at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18 at Venice High School against the Indians.

Junior Sam Vandersommen said, “I am super excited to have won against Manatee High School. It was a lot of fun to play against some of my closest friends with my team. I was so happy that we were able to take home the win as we all played our best. I am super excited to advance to the district championship game and I can’t wait to see how we do at the game. I hope we beat Venice in order to take home the district championship title.”

Junior Anna Shelby Dees said, “I am so glad that we were able to beat Manatee High School in our semi-district game. The crowd was great as there were many fans cheering us on. Winning this game advanced us to the district championship game against Venice. I am super excited, and I hope we are able win Thursday night.”
