Corinna Lunsford – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)– Lakewood Loves Animals is a new club at LRHS and it hopes to make a big difference within the school and community. This past Sunday, club members traveled to Cat Depot for their first volunteering project.
At the event, members got to work with the facility, staff, and, most importantly, the cats.
Freshman Aldan Rossnagel participated in the event, “It’s a great place that clearly is not in it for the money, but to actually help cats and give them good homes. All the animals seem very happy and well taken care of. In fact, I plan to adopt from them soon.”
Moving forward the club hopes to do more than just give members a chance to volunteer, they also want to give them a chance to make a connection with the animals and hopefully one that leads to taking an animal home.
Junior Gabriella Vazquez-Cruz enjoyed the event, “Cat Depot was such a welcoming environment. They’re genuine people who are dedicated to the cause and are so kind to their animals. I will definitely volunteer there again.”
Co-President Julia Gennocro was happy and impressed with the turnout for their first outing as a club.
“It was amazing to see the impact that just this one place had on our members, you could see the passion in their eyes,” she said. “It warms my heart to see our members caring as much as the officers. We all really connected, and I cannot wait to visit more places and make more of an impact with these wonderful people.”
