Jenelle Bayor – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The Mustangs swim team had their last home swim meet and their senior night Wednesday, Sept. 26. All 12 seniors had posters made for them by teammates.
The seniors made their way through the crowd and received giant sunflowers. Their parents accompanied them and wore pins identifying whose moms and dads they were. The moms’ pin matched the sunflower the swimmer received.
Afterward, they all stood on top of the diving blocks and counted down from three. When their countdown was over, they jumped into the water, some front-flipping off.
As well as having a fun senior night, the Mustangs had a successful meet. Both the boys and girls defeated Manatee and Southeast High Schools.
There were eight individual first place finishers, four girls and four boys.
Coach Julie Santiago told the swimmers, “Keep up the hard work, Mustangs! It is paying off. We are so proud of your efforts!”
At 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, the Mustangs will be attending the 2018 Manatee County Championship meet at GT Bray Park. They are currently the defending champions and hope to earn the title again.
