NEWS(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Mustangs Academic team (A-team) participated their first competition of the 2018-19 school year on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Palmetto High School.

LRHS’s two teams, Lakewood Ranch Black and Lakewood Ranch Silver, competed against several other schools in Manatee County, including rival school Braden River High School.

The main Black team consists of Mustangs seniors John Lin and Jamie Loring, and juniors Andrew den Boggende and Katie Hartley. This team placed third out of the 15 other teams.

“It was a lot more a lot more competitive than last year,” said Lin. “We competed against 15 different teams and five or six different schools. We’ve got to do better next time.”

A-team advisor Elizabeth Henry said, “I’m very proud. They placed third out of 15, which was really good.”

The next A-team competition will be on Oct. 25 at Southeast High School.
