Brenna Rademaker – Mustangs Ahead

Sports(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Friday the LRHS football team lost to the Springstead Eagles 36-7.

Senior Rory Atkins scored a touchdown for the Mustangs in the second quarter.  Atkins plays Slotback and recovered a fumble from the other team and ran the ball 13 yards into the end zone.

Atkins said, “We’re doing a lot of good things, but we keep making dumb mistakes that counter any success we can get.”

Senior Travis Freeman kicked the ball for the extra point, leading the Mustangs to seven points.

Senior Kieran Connolly said, “We were unfocused which led to too many mistakes.”

The Mustangs play their next game against the North Port Bobcats at 7:30, Sept. 28 at North Port High School.

The next home game will be at 7:30, Oct. 12 against the Palmetto Tigers.
