Bella Sellmer– Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Monday night, the LRHS volleyball Mustangs played at home against Sarasota High School.
First to play was the freshman team who fought hard and played a great game, winning 2-1.
Next up was junior varsity (JV) who played an extremely great game going to three sets, but in the end, ended up going 1-2.
Varsity was the last to play and won in three taking home a win for the Mustangs going 3-0.
Coach Perri Hankins said, “The non-district Sarasota match, Monday, was a good chance to see Sarasota and play well enough to beat them. The Orlando weekend tournament will give us a lot of playing experience and a chance to bring home the trophy.”
The ladies will be playing in the 2018 Dr. Phillips High School showcase Sept. 21-22 in Orlando. The tournament will take place at the Orlando Tampa Volleyball Academy (OTVA) facility.
Senior Maddie Koczerset said, “I am excited to go to Orlando this weekend with the team. Not only will we be able to play against a lot of different teams, we will also have a great team bonding experience which we are all looking forward to.”
The ladies’ next home game will be Tuesday, Sept. 25 against Braden River High School. This will be both a rival game and the last home game of the season. It will also be senior night for the four seniors on the team.
Senior Calissa Foege said, “I am sad this will be the last time I am going to be playing at home, but I am also excited for senior night.”
