Emma Brooks– Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS spirit week is slowly coming to an end but that doesn’t mean Mustangs have stopped participating.
Thursday was Color Day and each class was assigned a color to wear. This year, freshmen were pink, sophomores were blue, juniors were yellow, seniors were green, and faculty were orange.
“Color day is one of my favorite days, I love seeing how creative people get with their costumes since their only inspiration is the color,” said junior Anna Stock.
Thursday night the LRHS Student Government Association (SGA) is hosting a student favorite event, Clash of Classes. For $3, students can watch their peers battle other grades in a series of challenges in the gym.
“Clash of Classes is such a fun event, it’s really entertaining to watch all my friends compete and try to win it all,” said junior and SGA member Bailey Wegenast.
To finish off spirit week, Friday’s theme is LRHS spirit day. Students are encouraged to dress in their favorite Mustang gear and school colors to show off their school spirit.
“Spirit day is really fun for me, I have all of my gear ready for tomorrow and hopefully people will have lots of school spirit tomorrow,” said sophomore Amelia Skoumal.
During all student lunches Friday, a student pep rally will be held. Music will be played and the LRHS cheerleaders have a routine to perform.
Starting at 5:30 p.m. that evening, students are encouraged to come attend the tailgate before the Homecoming game. There will be games, food, and poster making. Following the tailgate, there will be a hot dog eating contest at 6:45 p.m.
At 7:30 p.m., the Homecoming game begins. Mustang football will be playing Venice High School and at halftime, the Homecoming court winners will be announced.
“I love the Homecoming game, it’s one of my favorite events of the whole school year,” said junior Josie Curtis.
So, be sure to go all out for the remaining days of spirit week and come out to support your fellow Mustangs at the Homecoming game.
