Emma Brooks – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS’ spirit week is off to a very successful start. Mustangs are showing their spirit by both dressing up and attending the evening homecoming events.
Tuesday was Tacky Tourist day and Mustangs were seen wearing a combination of Hawaiian shirts, khaki shorts and fanny packs.
“This has been my favorite theme so far, I loved getting to wear my Hawaiian shirt and my leis. I decided to dress up this year because it’s my senior year and I didn’t want to miss out on the experience,” said senior Dee Evans.
The evening events include the senior auction and the bonfire. The senior auction will start at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria, and students can bid on their favorite seniors in hopes of having control of them for a day.
The bonfire will begin at 7 p.m. in the bus loop. Students can hang out with friends and enjoy the concessions that Student Government Association (SGA) will be selling. SGA organizes the annual school homecoming celebration.
The theme for Monday, the first day of spirit week, was Disney vs Nickelodeon and students were able to dress up as their favorite characters.
“I enjoyed the first themed day, I got to dress up as a dwarf with six of my friends. I can’t wait to see how the rest of this week turns out,” said junior Manoela Dos Santos
That evening’s event was movie night, which was held inside the auditorium due to the weather. In the past, the movie was shown on the football field but the change in location did not ruin the evening.
“Movie night is one of my favorite homecoming events. Unfortunately, it wasn’t held on the football field, but we still had a great turn out,” said junior and Student Government Association (SGA) member Anna Shelby Dees.
Wednesday’s theme is “We Go Together Wednesday,” and Mustangs are encouraged to get together with friends and coordinate costumes.
