Sports(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS varsity football Mustangs fell to the Southeast Seminoles, dropping their record to 0-3. The final score on the night was 40-3.

“Every loss is a growing experience that we can learn from and use to motivate us for the next game,” said senior defensive lineman Nick Bottorff.

Both senior quarterbacks, Cooper Corley and George Davis, suffered injuries during the game causing sophomore quarterback Jimmy Kelly to step up.

Senior kicker Travis Freeman said, “The game didn’t go as expected, there were some positives, as well as negatives.” One positive being the field goal Freeman kicked for LRHS.

“We started off the game really strong and dominated the first half. Then in the second half, we made a ton of mistakes like fumbling that we have to fix in practice this week. We beat ourselves on Friday,” said senior wide receiver Rory Atkins.

The Mustangs battle the Venice Indians this Friday, Sept. 14 at home for homecoming.

There will be a tailgate before Friday’s game for fans including – a hot dog eating contest, games, and the naming of the homecoming court winners at halftime.
