(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) club has high hopes after their first meeting of the year.
The club held its first meeting Aug. 29. The meeting focused on introducing the officers and informing the new members of the club.
Secretary Emma Tullio, sophomore, feels confident for this year’s endeavors.
“Our first meeting went very smoothly and lots of people showed up,” she said. “In this coming year, there will be more people competing for states from our chapter and numerous fundraisers. There will also be new LRHS bracelets coming out soon.”
Members are getting excited for competition this year, as national finals take place in California.
Vice president of public relations sophomore Alise Mirikitani said, “FCCLA is a national organization that focuses on kids’ personal growth and leadership skills. During the year you can choose to compete in the competitive events program and when competing you can explore career options as well as develop necessary skills for family communities and a workplace.”
This year holds promise for a great season, and students are encouraged to join and participate. Their next meeting is scheduled for 2:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept 5.
