Madison Cartano – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS Silver Stars dance team trained hard over the summer to ensure that this season would be a success.
The team practiced two days a week over the summer and that does not include the 12 one-hour workouts that the dancers were required to complete by the start of the school year.
Silver Stars coach Kourtney Kalahar explained that the new dancers were adapting very well and already getting a hang of the routine.
“Our summer practices were very positive and productive,” said junior Brooke Martin. She explained that the team grew closer through spending so much time together.
Junior Silver Star Sophia Chivas said, “We got a lot done during these practices and accomplished our goals for camp.” Chivas said that everyone got along very well and bonded as a team.
The team’s practices have helped and gave them a great start to the new season.
In late July, they performed a pom routine at Universal Dance Association (UDA) camp. They learned various dances from well-known choreographers and continued to get to know their teammates.
In January the Silver Stars will compete in a regional and national competition in Orlando. This will be their fourth year competing at nationals and their second year at regionals.
The team has already been practicing their sideline routines for football games. Their first performance was at the Friday, Aug. 24 game.
The dance team has been working very hard and is planning to accomplish great things this season.
