LRHS football coach Chris Culton plans for the next game

This will be new LRHS head coach Chris Culton’s first-time coaching against Bayshore. Culton has had experience coaching at Georgia Southern, where he also played college football. He also coached at the US Naval Academy for 20 years.

“Bayshore picked us to lose by 24, but we are going to prove them wrong,” said Culton. He added the Mustangs varsity football team will play against the toughest running back they will see all season.

The starting lineup is determined by who puts in the hard work during the week at practices. Culton picks the best 11 players based on performance. There are currently no freshman on varsity, but he is always scouting to get the best players for the LRHS varsity football team.

Last week was a tough 21-14 loss for the Mustangs.  The Mustangs had the ball inside the 3-yard line twice and couldn’t score. Culton said he’ll adjust the plays to make sure the team gets every opportunity to score.

Culton said fans can expect big things from junior Jake Zapatha on defense, sophomore Drake Terrio on offense and senior kicker Travis Freeman.
