Justin Ramon – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS has some new teachers for the 2018-2019 school year. Kristin Greene was hired as a new music educator.
Greene initially wanted to be a high school band director, however she decided to focus on elementary teaching at first. Greene said, “It was a journey that led me to music education, because I knew I wanted to teach children (at any level) how to be the best musician they could be.”
Greene has been teaching for 15 years, but this is the first year that she will be teaching at a high school.
“There are a lot more staff on the team, and unfortunately, I’m sure there will be people that I will never know, or maybe even meet,” she said. “As an elementary music teacher, I worked with every teacher at the school.”
Greene said the gap from elementary level to a high school level can be very difficult for a new teacher to adjust to, but so far she enjoys her experience at LRHS and likes the environment.
“I like how students will hold the door for each other, and for teachers,” she said. “Everyone responds when someone says hello, and lots of use of manners.” This reflects LRHS as a community and aids in bringing everyone together as a whole.
Greene is looking forward to meeting new students and finding different ways of interacting with them. She is also ready to learn new things to be a better teacher.
