(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS’ color guard is practicing three times a week, working diligently in the classroom and honing their show to prepare for their first public performance this Friday at the Bayshore football game.

Junior Kenzie Horner is excited about this year’s show and is hoping for success at state competition.

“A lot more is expected this year, and we are trying to have the best attitudes for this season,” said Horner.

Horner is happy everyone is at the same level of skill.

“Individually we have grown, and together we have become stronger. We started the season with basics, and our instructors have pushed us farther than ever before,” Horner explained.

The color guard is determined to make it to finals and place high in Bands of America (BOA) competition.

“We are hoping to get to the finals this year at Tropicana Field and place in the top five for BOA,” Horner added.

The Marching Mustangs will perform 7:30 p.m. Friday at Bayshore High School.
