(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – One of the many clubs kicking off the new year at LRHS is Quill and Scroll. Quill and Scroll is an international honor society for outstanding high school journalists.

Club adviser and LRHS English teacher Candice Delazzer said, “The Quill and Scroll club does five different projects a year.”

Some of those projects include making appreciation cards for teachers, the Sarasota “Mayors Feed the Hungry” campaign for the less fortunate, Christmas and Valentines’ cards for teachers and staff, a Mini-Mustangs Easter egg hunt, and other events.

Quill and Scroll members must be in an active high school journalism class such as yearbook, journalism, TV production or creative writing. Students must also be juniors or seniors in the top third of their class academically and be nominated by the chapter adviser for membership which must be approved by the international secretary.

When joining there is a one-time $30 fee.  The club also awards graduation cords and pins to their graduating seniors.

Members meet once a month, on Thursdays in room 541.
