Brady Roberts – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Fall is upon us, and that means the start of the National Football League (NFL) regular season. And along with the NFL comes fantasy football.
Fantasy football is a competition in which participants select imaginary teams from among the players in the NFL and score points based on how that player performs each week.
Americans from high schoolers, to college students, to the typical American worker all participate in fantasy football leagues.
According to spectatornews.com, there is an average of 33 million Americans, and many Mustangs, who participate in some type of fantasy football every year.
ESPN fantasy sports and NFL fantasy sports are the most common applications used across the nation.
LRHS senior Jacob Pipercic said, “Fantasy football, to me, is a way to have fun with your friends while also being competitive. I like to play for money because it makes me pay more attention.”
Fantasy football can also be played on sites such as Fan Duel or Draft Kings. These are both considered fantasy football, but they only last one week.
Senior Johnny Reid likes Fan Duel better than fantasy football.
“Fan Duel is a lot different than season long fantasy football because it’s weekly. There’s more strategy involved because you can determine who you pick based on matchups. I like it, even though I do it for free, because you can pick different players each week which allows you to follow different teams throughout the year,” said Reid.
Fantasy football is great for friends to enjoy and compete against each other during the NFL regular season, whether it’s for money or just for fun.
