Academics(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS peer tutoring club will be starting up its sessions again soon.

Peer tutoring adviser and LRHS keyboard teacher Rebekah Lester said, “I am extremely excited for the start of this new school year, but I am in need of new tutors, so anyone interested please come to the first meeting. The date will be released soon.”

Peer tutoring is from 7:00-7:30 every Thursday morning in the library. A start date has not been decided yet, but one will be announced soon, and it will start before first quarter progress reports.

Lester added, “Anyone who has been through a class can tutor for that class. We do every subject and grade level.”

Anyone in need of extra help but can’t attend the Thursday sessions can schedule appointments before and after school.

President of LRHS peer tutors, senior Anthony Lamarc said, “Peer tutoring is a lot of fun and I love helping students and teachers as well by making things easier on them.”

Lamarc’s favorite subjects to tutor are math and science. Peer tutoring can even earn students grants and scholarships for college, along with volunteer hours.

Samantha Zappala is a junior who peer tutors to help others and get volunteer hours. She said, “I joined to be more involved in school activities.”

The program has grown exponentially and needs peer tutors. Anyone interested in joining can see Lester in room 517 or listen for the announcements about the first meeting.
