(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Last Saturday, the volleyball program held a junior varsity (JV) and freshman tournament hosting 14 teams.

The tournament started out with three freshman brackets and three JV brackets, each having a total of three teams.

After these brackets were played, another set was made depending on the teams wins and losses, placing them in either gold, silver, or bronze.

The Lady Mustang’s freshman team won all their games, putting them in the gold bracket for the tournament.

The freshman Mustangs fought hard, but in the end placed third in gold.

LRHS JV had a record of 2-3, putting them into the silver bracket. The girls placed fourth in silver.

Varsity and JV will play Aug. 28 at home against Palmetto. JV starts at 6 with varsity following. This will be the first district match for varsity.

Coach Peri Hankins said, “We have been practicing really hard. We have had a great challenge with both Charlotte and Wharton. We are very excited to start the district matches because that’s what determines the season and whether we will make it to the playoffs. We are also extremely excited to be starting the distract games at home. We hope to have a great crowed as we did Thursday.”

There will also be an away game for JV and varsity Aug. 30 against Port Charlotte starting at 6 with varsity following.
