Sports(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Last night, the LRHS junior varsity (JV) football Mustangs suffered a 55-0 defeat against the Braden River Pirates.

It was the first JV game of the season, but the team refuses to make it the basis of the rest of the year.

Junior defensive back Austin Morris said, “This was the first game of the season, it’s not going to set the tone for the season.”

This season, the JV and freshman teams are combined into one due to lack of freshman participation. Varsity and JV also practice together.

Sophomore Cameron Goldsmith said, “We’ll get better, this is just the start.”

The team plans to rebound from the loss next Thursday, August 30 against the Manatee Hurricanes.
