NEWS(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS is holding its first blood drive for the 2018-19 school year.

Students have been registering during lunches Tuesday and Wednesday in the cafeteria. To donate students must be 16 with parent consent and 18 without.

“I have participated in the blood drive committee before and I am doing it again this year. The club is expanding, and I hope people will join and donate,” said senior Alexa Brodsky.

Senior Jordan Mazer said, “I’m not doing the blood drive because I am too afraid of needles. I would have loved to participate if I wasn’t.”

There will be free pizza, snacks, and drinks for those who donate, along with a blood drive sponsored beach towel.

When students donate nurses do a standard wellness checkup, which includes tests for cholesterol, blood pressure, temperature, iron level, and of course, blood type.
