(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – On Monday, the LRHS Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) held their first meeting of the 2018-19 school year.
The first meeting focused on general information about the club and formation of committees. Each of these committees will be planning a SADD event in the first few months of school.
This is SADD’s second year as a chapter at LRHS. The club welcomed LRHS business education teacher Sharelies Rodriguez as the new adviser.
“I started this club last year because when I researched this club and what is was all about I felt passionate about the cause and I felt others at LRHS would as well,” said president and founder Tayla Rosenthal, junior.
Rosenthal was astounded by the turn out, “With over 70 people in attendance, I am extremely excited for what this year will bring and the difference this club will make in our school.”
SADD public relations officer Parker Pope, junior, said, “This is my second year being on the board of SADD. I really enjoy being a part of this club not only because I have made many friends who share the same interests as me, but I also feel like I am making a difference around campus by making students aware of destructive decisions they make without sometimes even realizing it.”
Returning member, junior Morgan Trevithick said, “SADD is a great club to be a part of, us students get to work on and discuss important issues that teenagers can often face while in High School.”
