Rachel Latka– Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Thursday Aug. 23 will be the first LRHS blood drive of the year and class picture day.
LRHS Blood Drive Committee advisor Rebekah Lester said the event is a great opportunity for students.
“The Blood Drive Committee allows students to get community service hours to gather students who can help on the blood drive and gather participants to donate blood,” she said.
To donate blood, Mustangs must be at least 18 or 16 with parent approval. Pizza and drinks will be given those who donate.
Scholarships will be available to those committee members who help the most, along with people who have donated the most throughout their years at LRHS.
Last year seven students were given scholarships from the Bubba Saves Lives Scholarship Fund, each student receiving around $820 towards their college tuition. A total of $5,740 was awarded to the students.
The Blood Drive Committee will also be having three other blood drives this year. These dates are Oct. 26, Jan. 31, and Apr. 4.
Also, on Thursday is picture day. Classes will be reporting to the gym at the following times:
- Koehlinger and Storm
- Delazzer, F.
- Johnson, M
- Mini Mustangs
