(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS’s FFA chapter was ranked one of the top in the nation this summer.

ffa logoAgriculture teacher Janyel Taylor said, “The National Chapter Award is the highest ranking the National FFA bestows on FFA chapters, with the ‘3-Star’ being the highest ranking.”

Only 14 FFA Chapters out of over 300 FFA chapters in Florida were awarded this honor in 2017-2018. The chapter has many plans to keep their ranking at a “3-Star.”

Newly elected LRHS FFA president Kylee Graham said, “The chapter at the school is so successful because they have really good advisors that help them be the best they can be, and that keep everyone involved.”

Graham is a junior who has participated in FFA for six years now. She is very excited for this upcoming school year and all the events the chapter has planned.

Last year’s chapter had 150 members, this year they plan to increase in their numbers and their success. Graham adds that they want to become more active in the community and do many activities as a chapter.

Later this school year, five LRHS FFA members will travel to Indianapolis to accept the 3-Star National Chapter award. LRHS has been nationally ranked since 2014-2015 and has been a 3-Star chapter for three years.
