(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS cross-country teams welcome a new coach who is a

new cross country coach
LRHS alumna Kristin Wickstrom is back to coach the school cross country teams

familiar face, English teacher and former LRHS runner Kristin Wikstrom.

Wikstrom ran Cross Country with former LRHS coach Bryan Thomas and wants to continue the legacy.

“I feel humbled and honored to be able to continue the tradition of excellence established by the coaches who preceded me,” she said. “I hope to foster a culture of positivity and growth. I want to inspire my student-athletes to reach higher, work harder, and achieve more than they ever thought possible.”

Becoming a coach just two years after she finished college, Wikstrom wants to bring her college running style to the team, “While competing as a collegiate runner, I learned how to train on the edge. This meant we were constantly pushing our limits and seeing just how far we could go.”

Wikstrom wants to bring the same rigor she experienced as an athlete into her coaching. Her training style focuses on a progression where athletes must prove their capability in one phase to move onto the next.

Junior Mason Ingallinera is excited for the season, “I’m very excited about this cross-country season and our new coach! I’m curious to see how well everyone will do at meets and I can’t wait to learn so many new things from Coach Wikstrom. I hope to absorb all the information she gives us and to become a better runner under her guidance.”
