(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Some new teachers join the Mustangs staff this school year. These include former Mustang and new Early Childhood Education 1 and 2 teacher Delaney Riggins.

Riggins recently graduated from Florida Southern College and is 22 years old. This is her first-year teaching, though she interned at an elementary school in college.

“My reason for wanting to teach at LRHS is because I attended this high school myself and really loved Mrs. [Elaine] Bowling as my teacher. I am also coaching soccer here,” Riggins said.

She really enjoys the perks of being a teacher such as getting to make a difference in her students’ lives and getting to know the other staff members.

Riggins also said, “The best advice I’ve ever received is to always be patient and as flexible as you can be.”

The only downside she sees to her job is having so many different classes and trying to keep everyone in the same pace as the others.

Riggins’ first day went very well, to her surprise, and she felt that all her classes contained great students.

“The best thing that I have ever experienced while being a teacher is actually watching students grow and seeing the difference you’ve made in their lives,” she said.

She said she expects a wonderful career at LRHS and is very excited to teach here.
