(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – This school year sees many new additions to the LRHS staff and faculty.

Amie Poole the new LRHS gifted education coordinator.

“It is quite different from my last teaching position of 18 years at Haile middle school where I was in a classroom with sixth graders,” she said.

Poole was inspired to get into education be her own eleventh grade teacher.

Poole said, “The best advice I have ever received about teaching was that every year I can reinvent myself as a teacher.”

This year she is excited to be working with all grades of students and starting over for the first time in a long time being the new teacher.

Poole said, “My favorite thing about teaching is having my past students come back to tell me about their successes.” The one thing she doesn’t like is not having enough time for things during the school day.

The first day of school was great for Poole but, just like a new student,  she was nervous about who to sit with at lunch.

Poole went to the University of Florida where she met her husband of 15 years. Originally, she is from Ohio, but went to school back and forth between the two states.  That meant she was often the “new kid” in the classroom.
