Shea Murphy– Mustangs Ahead

clubs(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) -This was a successful summer for the LRHS 2017-18 Technology Student Association (TSA) team. The TSA team competed at the National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia alongside over 8,000 middle and high school students from all 50 states and international guests from Germany and Turkey.

The conference spanned June 21-26. The Mustangs competed in 25 events and participated in leadership interviews if their event moved into the semi-finals (top 12).

Twenty Mustangs attended the National Conference, staying in downtown Atlanta, Georgia and representing the school among all others in the United States.

For the first time in LRHS history, the chapter placed first place in Animatronics. According to Christopher Miller, the 2017-18 TSA reporter, Lakewood Ranch had always done well in the Animatronics event but had never won first at nationals until this summer.

Not only did the 2017-18 chapter place first in Animatronics, they also placed second in Music Production, fifth in Video Game Design, sixth in 3D Animation, Structural Design, and Engineering, and placed highly in many more events.

Junior Olivia Miller said,” The TSA team this year worked really hard and that I know the 2018-2019 chapter hopes to continue their legacy.”

President Ty Wilcox, vice-president Holden Scarbrough, secretary Jared Herbert, treasurer Katie Hartley, Miller, and sergeant-At-Arms Emily Miller participated in numerous events.
