(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)-  The LRHS football team has spent this summer fundraising to purchase brand new “Speed flex” helmets for the upcoming season.

The helmets afford hi-tech levels of player safety.  Each helmet equipped with five sensors, registering a player’s every move.

“It’s like having a computer, it acts like a GPS, it measures collision and impact; it’s all about safety” said new head football coach Christopher Culton.

The team has been putting in a tremendous amount of work over the summer. Players have spent time in the weight room every morning, as well as watching film, learning the new offense and defense, and practicing on the fields in the afternoons.

Lakewood Ranch scrimmaged the Riverview Rams last Friday. Culton stated the team is showing improving.

“We’re getting close,” he said.  “We’re seeing a lot of positive things.”

LRHS travels to face the Osceola Seminoles this Friday, August 17 for the Kick Off Classic.
