Brady Roberts – Mustangs Ahead

Sports(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- School is back in session and that can only mean one thing for LRHS sports fans, fall sports are ready to begin a new season. This year, Mustang volleyball is ready to build on last season’s progress.

Last year the girls’ volleyball team finished with an overall record of 13-15, with the final loss coming to the Venice Indians in the district semi-final away game. The girls say they put in a lot of hard work during the offseason and are ready to see it pay off on the court.

LRHS head volleyball coach Perri Hankins commented on the upcoming season, “We hope to be competitive this year and compete for a district title. We lost a couple of players from last year, so we might not be where we want to be, but if we work hard I think we will get there.”

Hankins also said that the team’s main goal is to just improve as the season progresses and to do everything in their power to win a district championship.

The team has not won a district title since 2014.

Volleyball tryouts are scheduled to begin 6–8 p.m. Monday in the LRHS gymnasium and run through Friday. Interested students should contact coach Hankins.
