(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS Orchestra Program held its annual Finale Concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 10 in the school auditorium. The concert presented students’ work one final time this school year.

This concert was the only concert of the year where the orchestra ensembles performed popular musical themes from movies and television shows including the BBC drama Downton Abbey and a special combined performance of “The Avengers” theme.

LRHS orchestra director Daniel Shafer was pleased with the performance.

“The concert was a solid finale to another great school year for the LRHS Orchestras,” he said. “While there are always things that can be improved our students performed wonderfully – especially for a week filled with EOC’s, AP Exams, and senior exams. Our seniors as well planned a charming prank for our final selection, “The Avengers” by Alan Silvestri, by suddenly putting on superhero masks before playing.”

This was the last concert to display all orchestra ensembles, even small groups and solos comprised of chamber students. It was an eventful year for the orchestra program, but they’re happy to have gone out with a bang at the last concert of the year.

Overall, the LRHS Orchestra ended their year strong, finishing the concert with pleased audiences.
