Madison Aker – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Next year, the Mustangs will be going to school following a new bell schedule.

Teacher Day 7:15- 3:00

Student Day 7:30- 2:25

Following this new schedule, Monday will be a “Skinny Day” when all periods meet, and Tuesday through Friday will be the Odd/Even alternating block.

LRHS Principal Craig Little feels this change will benefit the teachers and students.

“Teachers will have a chance to set the tone and schedule for the remainder of the week with a skinny Monday,” he said. “Also, teachers will be able to meet with their students three times a week, every week.”

The schedule isn’t new to LRHS.  The school used it several years ago.   Early Childhood Education teacher and cheerleading coach Tiffany Sheffield graduated from LRHS in 2005 and experienced this schedule first hand as a student.

“From previous experience, I think the new schedule will benefit the students more,” she said. “I personally like it better, it makes that Monday go by faster, but allows you to see every class. It helps the teachers mainly focus on what you are learning in the core of classes.”

Junior, Hannah Kennelly, stated, “I don’t mind the new schedule; I think it might be a good change as it’s something new.”
