Brenna Rademaker – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) –  Friday night the LRHS football team had their first spring game under new head coach Chris Culton.  The Mustangs lost to the Booker High Tornadoes 41-0.

The LRHS football team started practice for spring football three weeks ago, practicing every day from 4-6 pm.  The game was supposed to show the boys what their fall season was going to look like.

Junior Rory Atkins said, “I think there were obviously a lot of mistakes made and there is tons of room for improvement.  We did what we could in the three weeks we had, and I can’t wait to improve more with my teammates.”

The game started well for the Mustangs when the defense got a turnover in the first quarter; then the Tornadoes scored a touchdown and ran away from there.

After the game Culton told HTPreps, “It’s my fault for not getting them ready and it’s disappointing. I thought we were further along, but clearly we weren’t…give Booker credit, what they did in three weeks is pretty phenomenal.”

The Mustangs are introducing a new offense, so they are hopeful to do better when the fall season starts.
