Rachel Monroe – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS varsity softball team is headed to the state championship tournament.

The Mustangs defeated Plant City 9-2 in the regional championship game Friday May 11.

Head coach TJ Goelz tweeted after the game, “So proud of this team! Made it our mission to raise the bar higher, make each detail better, and go further in every aspect of the program. They bought in…they believed.”

Senior Madi Locastro said, “This season has been one for the books.  I’ve been on the varsity team for four years working for this and I can’t believe we did it my senior year.”

Junior Alexis Schwab said, “I am so thankful to be a part of this awesome team and program. This year I have made memories I will never forget.”

The Mustangs will play in the state semi- final Saturday at 4:05 in Vero Beach. If the Mustangs win that, they will play 5:30 Sunday for the state title.
