Ben Sax – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- April was Financial Literacy Month, recognizing the skills that allow an individual to make informed and effective decisions with their financial resources. Just because the month is over doesn’t mean Mustangs should quit thinking about the future.
Students should remember that financial resources could be based on the degree that a person attains.
There are four basic types of Associate’s degrees – Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), Associate of Applied Arts (AAA), and Associate of Applied Science (AAS).
Some jobs students can get with an Associate’s degree are – Advertising Sales Agent, Air Traffic Controller, Allergy Technician, and Architectual Drafter.
According to TheBestSchools.org “an Associate degree is often more affordable than a Bachelor’s degree.”
There are also four types of Bachelor’s degrees – Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS), Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFS), and Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS).
Some jobs Mustangs can get with a Bachelor’s degree are -Chief Executive, Computer and Information Systems Manager, Architectural and Engineering Manager, and a Marketing Manager.
LRHS college and career advisor Michelle Todoroff said that the difference between an Associate’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree is “an Associate’s degree is two years and a Bachelor’s degree is four years.”
According to GetEducated.com “the credits you received in your associate’s degree will apply directly to the bachelor’s degree, meaning it may only be another two years to complete a bachelor’s degree program.”
Todoroff expects an increasing number of future jobs will require Associate degrees.
