(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS is one of the 100 best high schools in Florida.

According to U.S. News and World Report, LRHS is ranked 97th in the state and 1117th nationally.

LRHS Principal Craig Little said LRHS has been known for both its academic and athletic excellence for several years, and this state ranking is a huge accomplishment.

Little added that he is very grateful “for all the hard work and dedication” from the students and teachers at the Ranch.

LRHS is the top-rated school in the Manatee School District.

The U.S. News and World Report explained how they rank schools.

“[A] great high school must serve all of its students well, not just those who are college bound, and that it must be able to produce measurable academic outcomes to show it is successfully educating its student body across a range of performance indicators,” the magazine said.

U.S. News said one measure of LRHS’s success is student achievement in Advanced Placement (AP) tests.

“The AP® participation rate at Lakewood Ranch High School is 57 percent,” said US News, pointing out that Mustangs’ success rate is 67%.
