Angelina Ortiz – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS Camerata Orchestra participated in the Florida Orchestra Association (FOA) State Concert Music Performance Assessment (MPA) April 25 at Blake High School and obtained an overall “Excellent” score.

Orchestra teacher Daniel Shafer said that the group’s performance and rating was “fantastic” and something to be very proud of.

The orchestra students received an overall rating for each of their three selections based on the ratings of three adjudicators. They received a superior for their first selection and excellent for each of their other two selections.

After the stage performance, the ensemble continued to another classroom for a student-conducting workshop with an adjudicator. Junior violinist John Lin ranked superior for his student conducting performance.

Ensembles that compete at the state level are scored at a higher and harder level because all students who participate in state MPAs have earned overall superior ratings at District MPAs. Therefore, an overall excellent score for the LRHS Camerata is beyond successful.
