(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS softball was scheduled to play the Palmetto Tigers Tuesday, April 24, but won by forfeit due to the Tigers not showing up. Because of the cancellation, head coach TJ Goelz decided to play an intersquad scrimmage to continue to prepare for post-season.

The game against Palmetto would have been the district-semifinals. The Mustangs will now take on the Manatee Hurricanes at 7 p.m. Thursday at home for the district champion title.

The Mustangs have already qualified to play in regionals, win or lose Thursday, however if they win they will host the regional quarterfinals next Wednesday.

Junior Maddie Koczersut said, “Home field advantage is always really nice to have during games, especially big games like regionals, so it’s very important we beat manatee Thursday in the district championship, so we can host next Wednesday.”
