(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS Mustangs are getting the results from the recent National Latin Vocabulary Exam.

The exam tests students on Latin vocabulary at their course level. The scoring isn’t directly competitive; multiple students could score bronze, silver, or gold depending on their testing scores.

LRHS offers four levels of Latin: Latin 1, Latin 2, Latin 3 honors, and AP Latin. All four are taught by Stefania Mitzithras.

Sophomores Olivia Miller and Quinn Mitchel are taking the Latin 2 course and both scored Bronze on the exam.

Miller said, “I felt pretty confident when I was taking it, although there were a few words I had never seen before. For those words, I tried to find English words derived from them to figure it out.”

Sophomore Jonathan Borntreger is currently a student Latin 1 and scored Silver on the exam.

Freshmen Camila Kassner and Kenneth Marschner are also students in Latin 1 and ranked Bronze.
