Emma Brooks and Claudia Estevez – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- On Friday, April 20 the LRHS National Honor Society (NHS) chapter inducted 117 new members. Over 40 students worked hard to make the auditorium ready for the inductees and their families and friends.
“I was really excited to be accepted. This is important to me and I feel like it will be beneficial to my future. My family was so proud and I’m grateful I’m getting the chance to show my school and community how much I care,” said inductee sophomore Morgan Deglopper.
The induction included speeches from NHS officers and school staff members such as discipline dean Jacob Sponsel and assistant principal Melinda Lundy. The inductees were then called by name and were officially recognized as they crossed the stage.
“Friday evening was amazing at the Ranch. I want to send a huge thank you to the custodial staff for their assistance, as well as (athletic director) Coach (Shawn) Trent and (drama director) Roxanne Caravan and her tech crew for all their help getting this huge event completed,” said NHS adviser Mary Ellen Eskett.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the cafeteria. Current NHS member decorated the room.
Inductees and their families were given a catered dinner from Italian restaurant Valentinos.
“It was a really good evening, and the food catered was really delicious,” said new inductee sophomore Manoela Dos Santos.
