Morgan Lingle and McKenzie Mazzella– Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Last week the Mustang Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Battalion had its annual award ceremony in the LRHS auditorium. Cadets were awarded for all their individual accomplishments from the 2017-2018 school year.

Select cadets were also recognized from various outside organizations for personal characteristics, including honor, courage, athletics, and academics.

The Mustang Battalion’s new staff and leadership pool was also announced. Next year’s Battalion Commander is junior Kendall Brahler and junior Command Sergeant Major is Sofia Uribe.

The rest of the staff includes the battalions executive officer junior D’Nasha Washington, the battalion adjutant officer (S1) is sophomore Ethan Nicholls, the battalion’s security officer (S2) is sophomore Thomas Suba, the chief of operations and training (S3) is junior Lael Dabney and her assistants are juniors Ethan Campano and Richard Fallacaro. The supply officer (S4) is junior Carli Kasten, and the public affairs officer (S5) is freshman Elise West.

“It’s not over yet, I have to work until the end of the year. Its bittersweet, I had a good year, but I am excited to see how the new leadership takes over,” said current senior Elsa Fagulha.
