(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – For the fourth year in a row the LRHS FFA has been named one of Florida’s finest FFA chapters.  The selection of this award is based upon the completion of the National Chapter Award Application.

LRHS FFA adviser and agriculture teacher Janyel Taylor said, “The focus of the National Chapter Award is about growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture. To be able to get this award is a huge honor for our FFA program.”

LRHS agriculture teacher Susan Grainger took Jessica Bierds to the Florida FFA State Officer Screening.

Taylor said, “During this time, Jessica endured a two-day intensive interview and testing process in hopes to be selected as a candidate for State Office.” For this state title, only eight members were selected.

Bierds was honored to be announced as one of the two candidates selected for Area V vice-president. Along with being selected, she will now have to campaign in Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota, Hardee, Desoto, Charlotte, and Lee counties, as well as at the Florida FFA State Convention in June.
