(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)-  Wednesday, April 18 marks the annual  LRHS Fine Arts Showcase.

The showcase begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. and features performances from the drama and music departments. As usual, art from students will be displayed.

What is different this year is the fact that the art pieces will not be for sale.

LRHS art teacher Abby Kolesa said, “We wanted to be a bigger part of the show. It gets a bit chaotic because we are also trying to watch the performances.”

Each student in any art program is asked to display one piece that they are the proudest of.

This is the second year that sophomore Gee Basilone is taking part.

Basilone said, “I’m really excited to have another opportunity to show my art and look at other work from throughout the year.”

Sophomore Savannah Jordan also looks forward to the showcase, “Although I’m not as involved as other students, I applaud schools for showcasing adolescent artwork and giving them an opportunity to proudly display their pieces.”

LRHS art students will display several pieces.

The LRHS music department will also be featured.  Chorus will perform three pieces.  There will be about 25 students maneuvering around the keyboards, performing fine music. There will also be two stage performers playing piano.

Sophomore Kaila Kozich from keyboard class said, “It should be fun! I can’t wait!”
