Hayes DuJardin – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – With the upcoming testing period at LRHS, many students may wonder what they can do to be ready.  However, a lot of the preparation starts much earlier than expected.

All core teachers (math, science, social studies, and English) begin preparing students, especially freshman and juniors, from day one of the school year. Their goal throughout the year is to make sure students are ready for the testing.

LRHS assistant principal Valencia Lowen said test success is everyone’s responsibility.

“We must work together as a team to get through this testing season'” she said.

The testing period is scheduled to last five weeks, starting Monday, April 16. It starts with Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) reading and writing, followed by algebra 1 and geometry, biology, and US history.

Advanced Placement Testing will take place between May 7 and May 18.

Students who are looking for ways to prepare can consult their core teachers, who should have access to district-provided practice tests.

The test’s importance lies in its tie to the Value-Added Model (VAM) score, which is directly tied to the school grade. It is also a graduation requirement.
