(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS color guard and percussion group created an amazing night filled with creative solo performances and group pieces Tuesday.

The show started with individual pieces from the drumline, followed by a group piece completely they choreographed.  All eyes were on the stage as they performed their hearts out for the last time this season.

The color guard pieces started with the freshman, a slow but heartfelt performance.  The sophomore class followed with two performances.

A “Womanizer” and “Confident” mashup followed by “It’s Raining Men” blared through the speakers as the sophomores showed off their sabre, rifle, dance, flag, and baton talent.

Then, the juniors brought a mashup of songs from the musical “Grease.” Junior Riane Barker was so proud of her class and their piece.

“We started preparing for it two weeks before spring break,” said Barker. Even with a busy schedule, the color guard made enough time to pick out a song, choreograph work, and create costumes.

For the big finale, the seniors created a rendition of the movie “High School Musical.” They ended the performance with the song “We’re All in This Together,” including all seniors as a final goodbye to LRHS.

“The guard works together so much. I feel like we’re together all the time, like one big family. We trust one another and share a special bond,” said Barker.

Sign-up and show-reveal for the 2018-19 season is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17 in the band room. Anyone who wants to be a part of color guard or band can sign up for a year of memories and a band family.
