(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Scholastic Indoor Performers (LRSIP) Winter Guard finished second in their championships this weekend.

The group competed at the Florida Federation of Color guards Circle (FFCC) championships in their Class B division. The LRHS Winter Guard was one of 45 guards to compete in their division.

The group competed in the NEI division of Class B, against 14 other guards.

This has been the Winter Guard’s first year ever competing in this circuit. By winning second place, the group has made a name for themselves.

LRHS band director Ron Lambert coordinated everything for the 2017-18 Winter Guard. “This group has paved the way for a new level of Color Guard experience here at the Ranch,” said Lambert.

The group has worked tirelessly for the past four months, and all of them feel that it has greatly paid off.

Sophomore Chloe Nelson loved joining the new Winter Guard, “This season was a blast. We put everything we had into our final performance and it obviously was worth it.”

The Guard is very likely to be promoted to a higher, more challenging class after how they performed.

“I’m excited, but also nervous for next year,” said Nelson. “I know we’ll do great in any division, no matter how difficult.”
