(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS HOSA is heading to state competition this Thursday, April 5.  Regional qualifiers will compete in Orlando at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention center throughout the weekend.

Competitive events include public health, medical innovation, medical tests, and more.  Club members began creating, studying, and practicing for their competitive event as early as October.

Sophomore HOSA historian Nicolette Ngov expressed her excitement about attending her fourth HOSA state competition.

Ngov said, “I am thrilled that I have another opportunity to compete in my event, medical innovation. This is my first time competing in this category and I had a lot of fun creating the project.  I learned so much about the nasal sprays we chose to research.”

Sophomore HOSA reporter Cameron Willis added, “I’ve only ever competed in public health and I love that I am able to do it every year.  This year’s topic is preventing teen dating violence which is important this day and age and I am glad to be educated about it.”

The awards ceremony will be live streamed on the HOSA website from 9-11 p.m. this Saturday, April 7.
