McKenzie Mazzella – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Last weekend the Mustang battalion took part in the annual county Military Ball.

Every year the Junior Reserved Officer Training Corps (JROTC) programs in Manatee County rotate the responsibility of putting on a Military Ball for the rest of the county.

This year the Southeast Seminole Battalion oversaw the event. The ball took place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 15 at the Hyatt in downtown Sarasota, where each school provided a receiving line for all their cadets.

As cadets filed into the ballroom and eventually found their seats, a presentation of the colors and ceremonial toasts were given.

Next, the cadets were served salad, dinner, and dessert.  This was followed by an inspirational speech given by Manatee School Board member John Colon. The speech cadets ended the night by dancing.
