Rachel Lamoureaux – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The Mustangs new cheerleading squad is scheduled to be posted Thursday after the last day of tryouts. There are 72 girls attending with 29 incoming freshman, 15 sophomores, 15 juniors, and 12 seniors.

This year’s tryouts emphasize the cheer portion, seeing the pump and spirit, as well as engaging the crowd for all Mustang sports. The goal for this year is to get the crowd more involved, getting more people to come out to show Mustang spirit, and participating in philanthropy events.

New head coach Kiana Broadbridge is coming back to teach what she has been taught here at LRHS. Broadbridge has graduated from Florida State University as a cheerleader and graduated from LRHS as a cheerleader.

Outgoing head coach Tiffany Sheffield has moved to be the administrative assistant coach, dealing with all the paperwork and social events.

Sophomore Ally Ellis is going to miss Sheffield’s coaching, “I’ve had her for two years now and she’s been a really big part of the experience. It’s going to be hard not having her around as much.”
